DIY Learn-to-Swim Kit
Belt should be loose but should not fall past hips when standing.
Connect yourself to a Float Bar or your pool ladder or railing. Feel safe, knowing you won’t drift away: you’re securely connected with the tether. When you feel safe, you experience what’s true about water and deep water. It holds almost everyone up. You will find out for yourself once you feel safe. Overcome fear. Patent pending.
How to Succeed
The book gives you every single step of learning to swim. To use the tether (Strap Kit): one strap goes around your waist. One strap connects to the Float Bar, pool ladder or railing. One strap extends or shortens your distance from the Float Bar. As you become more confident, expand the tether to float further away. Color coded connectors make connecting the tether simple. Pipes fill with water, keeping Float Bar on the floor. Float Bar immediately drains while being removed from pool.
Good floats are demonstrated by the student photos above. The diagonal float is normal for someone with lean legs. A horizontal float is just as good.

1. Why do I need the book, DVD, and podcast?
You need the book. You don’t need the DVD and podcast, though they add to your overall understanding and comfort. If you use common knowledge to teach yourself to float, it’s likely that you follow traditional thinking, skip steps, and become discouraged. Much common knowledge is incorrect. At Miracle Swimming, steps are not skipped and success is assured. Our book, DVD, and podcast teach you how to learn, feeling safe all the time. No more panic. The urgency to learn is understandable. However, it’s best to start at the beginning. The book provides every single step an adult needs to learn to swim, from fear in shallow water to freedom in deep water. It doesn’t include strokes—which make swimming efficient but not safe—because strokes are not relevant to overcoming fear. The DVD shows the introduction to a real course with actual students learning for the first time and the first teachings: the 5 Circles, lessons of learning to put your face in and the back float. Follow students’ progress over an 8-week / 24 hour course including their first lessons in the deep end. You will see excerpts of two Miracle Swimming courses in action.
Listen to the podcast or read the first 60 pages of the book to get started. Or watch the DVD before you get into the pool. Read the whole book to learn to swim comfortably in the shallow and deep. You can learn to swim safely in deep water fully with the book, tether, and a pool with a ladder or the float bar.
2. Ideally, your belly will not touch the Float Bar when you float on your back. If it does, put the Float Bar in shallower water. Or, make your Float Bar taller.
How can you know in advance if your belly will touch it?
If you’re fairly lean, you will most likely float at a diagonal and your feet will be on the floor, belly below the surface and the Bar.
If you’re not lean, you will most likely float horizontally and your belly will touch the Float Bar.
