The one 100% effective set of swimming skills is taught by Miracle Swimming School for Adults. I have done television spots on Miracle Swimming and was entirely convinced by their focus on removing fear and teaching the science of staying above the surface in deep water.

The swimmer of the 111 miles from Cuba to Florida
There has to be one place in the world where you can go from terror to joy in shallow and deep water. Miracle Swimming. Relaxing with friends, triathlons, SCUBA diving, and playing with the grandkids in the water are not far away. Continue on to strokes, snorkeling, paddleboarding and all you’ve dreamt about. Learning at your own pace with correct information, you cannot fail.
This course is exactly like our Essentials 1 Course except that it goes more slowly and we don’t enter deep water. 5.5 feet is usually the maximum depth of the pool. Spend more time learning to let the water support you in a pool where you can place your hands on the bottom to learn to float. Learn in standard-depth water, as well. Be with your swimming people!
If you have any questions about the suitability of this course for you, please call. If this is the right course for you, it would be a mistake to take Essentials 1.
PREREQUISITE: simply be afraid and want the slowest course possible. Some SloMo candidates say, “I don’t know what to do with the water.”
Start at the beginning with essentials you won’t find elsewhere. All the basics that no one ever told you plus skills. Begin to learn how to be at ease in the deep, too.
PREREQUISITE: Uncomfortable in water over your head. You may be uncomfortable in shallow water as well. The idea of learning to float in 3-4 feet doesn’t bother you. You’ll be holding onto the wall to learn.
Everyone starts with Essentials 1 SloMo or Essentials 1
24 hours in 5 days, Monday-Friday
Eight 3-hour sessions: one hour on land followed by two hours in the water (warm enough)
Learn with classmates who have had similar experiences in water and had the same challenges with traditional lessons
Overcome fear. In Essentials 1, you overcome fear: most or all of it, students tell us.
In Atlanta it’s eight 3-hour sessions over 7 days
Anyone who is afraid in deep water needs to overcome their fear—no matter what technical skills they have. Otherwise they are not safe. Success is inevitable when you start at the beginning and skip no steps!
The importance of taking the right Essentials 1 Course.
Cynthia knew she was deeply afraid in water. She had a feeling Essentials 1 SloMo would be a relief to her but it would save time and travel costs to take Essentials 1. If she chose SloMo and it was the wrong choice, she’d feel as though she wasted the time as well as money. She went to E1.
It turned out that she didn’t make as much progress as others because she needed more time to learn to put her face in and feel safe letting go of the wall. She felt behind the others all week. If she’d taken SloMo, she would’ve gained more confidence and been more comfortable and successful. If SloMo had been too slow for her, she would not have been held back from the progress she was capable of in 5 days.
Take the course that fits best. Call us if you’re unsure. If you don’t feel you need to put your hands on the bottom to learn to float, E1 may be just right for you.
Essentials 1 and Essentials 1 SloMo have the same course content except SloMo doesn’t go to deep water and SloMo has an additional pool of 1-2 feet depth where you can place your hands on the bottom to learn to float.
