After you can rest peacefully in water over your head, you may wish to become proficient in the water.
To be eligible, when you arrive you must be peaceful in the middle of deep water in a pool for at least 10 minutes and a graduate of our Essentials 1 (formerly Beginning) course. Most likely you’ll also be a graduate of the Essentials 2 (formerly Next Step) course. It’s okay to re-take Essentials 2 to get ready. Or, reach comfort with with our Tether.
This third course in our series of Core Courses brings you to freedom in any pool, completing our series to achieve Pool Competency.
When you’ve mastered your safety in the deep end of the pool and you can “hang out” there as long as you want, there’s one more level of competency to win: proficiency.
Gain control of doing exactly what you want, when you want to do it. Learn to use the water and your body to pick up the keys you dropped in the deep, find a nose clip, play games, swim along the bottom, do stunts. Go up, down, forward and backward at will. Master your air and your nose. The combination of this course plus Jump Off the Boat produced a class of graduates who can tread water for half an hour in the ocean: they had gotten to know the water and were free.
18 hours/3.5 days
