Who Are Our Ultra Beginners?

Our Ultra Beginners have usually taken swimming lessons before. They were afraid most of the time. Fear wasn’t addressed. “Proper movement of arms and legs” was the definition of learning to swim.

Spend plenty of time in a shallow pool where you can put your hands on the bottom to learn to float. You cannot fail to learn to float here. First, we cover the many steps that come before floating. Spend time in standard depth water as well. We do not intend to go into deep water.

Do you derive your safety from the bottom of the pool in shallow water and from the wall in the deep (if you go there)? Yes. But you want to get it from yourself.

Have you heard yourself say, "If I could just DO X, then I would BE Y"? Actually, it's the other way around: if you were comfortable, you'd be able to learn all that you want to know.

Where and How?

Online Live classes with video

Imagine learning at this pool from the comfort of your couch.

Our online students have universally been transformed by the course. When they get to the pool, some of them experience a freeing change in their thoughts the first time they go. Some take a visit or two to the pool to remember their new learning. Then they take off!

In-person, during COVID19, we have sectioned off 6 x 6 foot squares for each student, surrounded by empty 6 x 6 foot squares on 3 sides and the wall on the other, for social distancing.

What Is the Course?

Start at the beginning and skip no steps. We cover all the points and conversations that must be covered in order for you to gain a new understanding of how the water works and how to overcome fear.

The online course and the in-person course have the same course content: the 8 hours of dry-land time of the in-person course. Online, we have extra time to go into your questions more deeply. We spend the last 60- 90 minutes of each day of the online course learning by visualization the basic shallow water skills you need.

The in-person course give you the physical experience of learning in the pool, of course.
