To be a Miracle Swimming Instructor, a teacher must be not only knowledgeable, gentle and kind; she or he must recognize a person who is afraid and know that that person cannot become safe until she is comfortable in deep water.
If someone can do freestyle but cannot stop and rest peacefully in deep water, he is not safe. He can swim strokes but he “cannot swim”.
For the purposes of water safety, a person is finished with lessons when he is peaceful going nowhere in deep water for at least 10 minutes. Strokes are for efficiency after one is safe.

What Is the Miracle Swimming Instructor Training?
