If You Ask the Right Question, "Why Don't People Learn to Swim?" You Have A Good Chance of Finding the Answer.
Dear Swimming Professionals and Administrators,
What do people tell you when they explain why they can't swim? Half the country can't, according to Gallup.
• I never had lessons.
• We didn't have a pool when I was growing up.
• My mother was afraid in water and she didn't let us near it.
• My family went on vacation before my lessons were finished.
• I got upset at lessons and my mother never made me go back.

These are the minor "reasons" people don't learn to swim. They're not the Big 4.
What are the Big 4?
What is the solution to each of them?

In 2006, the call was put out to end preventable drowning in the next 100 years. It was placed because the possibility of ending drowning, which has always been a dream, underwent a shift from being just a dream to being a plan in 2004.

Dear Swimming Professionals and Administrators,
Many people learn to swim every year. The system is working in a big way. Why does it work? Because students are being met at their level and their questions are being answered. They move up the chain of lessons to confidence in deep water and personal safety.
So why would I ask, Shall We All Change Beginning Swimming?
